Melbourne Street Photography & More

Street photography is the feature of this ladies-only guided photographic adventure led by Lesley Whyte (Lesley Whyte Photography) and Sydney photographer Chris Tham (Voigtländer ambassador and Mainline Photo Academy instructor) in Queen’s Birthday Weekend 2021.  As with all photography adventures led by Lesley and Chris, all levels are catered for and beginners are very welcome, however we recommend that you are familiar with your camera’s aperture, shutter and ISO settings.

This women-only, small group setting provides you with a great learning environment, including expert guidance, instruction and personal attention according to your learning style. You will leave the workshop with new skills, new friends, inspiration in spades and some really, really, stunning photos to show off.

Friday   You will be met on arrival at Melbourne Airport by your dedicated Women in Photography driver and taken to our hotel – you have free time until 5.30pm when we meet at reception and head to dinner – a great opportunity to meet your fellow photography buddies.

Saturday   Today we visit some of Melbourne’s best places for street photography.  An early morning start as we head to the fresh produce section of Queen Victoria Market which known as the heart and soul of Melbourne.  Not only will we experience fantastic moments in the iconic food halls, we also enjoy freshly made doughnut holes filled (local venue) with jam from the original 1950s van – American Doughnut Kitchen.

After a late breakfast we head to the Royal Botanic Gardens for some amazing landscape and macro photography opportunities.

Tonight, it’s fish & chips from D’Lish Fish at Port Melbourne but before that, we capture the sun setting on the historic Princes Pier looking out over Port Philip Bay.

Sunday   Another early start this morning as we head to Brighton Beach to capture the sun rising over Port Melbourne and photograph the Brighton Beach iconic bathing boxes as they also make up one of the most spectacular views of a Melbourne sunrise that you’ll ever have the honor to photograph.   Breakfast back at our hotel before head out for some more street photography through a “different lens” today you will learn the art of “story telling” photographic style as we explore some of Melbourne’s oldest laneways; Meyers Place, Tattersalls Lane, Hosier Lane.

Walking this evening we spend our time at two locations; Flinders Street Station capturing some long exposure and car light trail photos and Princes Bridge for beautiful evening long exposure with views up the Yarra River to Southgate

Monday    A very early start this morning as head to the Dandenong Ranges where we capture the sun rising over the Dandenong ranges and Melbourne.  After breakfast back at our hotel a bit of spare time for you to review your photos or head out on your own before meeting in the conference room at out hotel to share our five favourite photos from the adventure and discuss what further processing might be required.

We finish the day on a Yarra River cruise with final celebration dinner, toasting our new skills, our new photography buddies and our really fantastic photos.
